There is an increasing trend for people to adopt rescue dogs from both UK and overseas shelters. This means there is an increasing number of owners who are unaware of their dog’s history and experiences, and how best to integrate them into their lives

It is really hard to imagine how overwhelming it is for a rescue dog, whatever her background, to adapt and to what will in many situations be a traumatic change in their lives

We have been running our ‘Rescue Dog Programme’ for several years and have worked with many dogs from UK shelters and overseas charities.

Our innovative programme allows new guardians of rescue dogs to:

  • Assess their new dog for stress and abilities to cope safely; and
  • Provide a baseline of core training tailored for their dog

The programme takes place over 3 sessions, with the initial session assessing the rescue dog’s stress levels in their new environment. This includes meeting new people, other dogs, cars and motorbikes, children, hoovers and any other potential stimulant they may encounter within their new household environment.

We then tailor a set of training drills to be carried out by the new dog guardians, which are then reviewed and refined over the remaining sessions.

We have seen many rescue dogs react to situations where they cannot cope with ‘aggressive displays’, and new guardians want to identify this and modify to manage those situations.

Our programme has successfully allowed many rescue dogs to integrate into society

We charge £280 for our Rescue Dog programme and that includes a dedicated WhatsApp group for each client
